During our travels, from one country to the next, it had become glaringly obvious that plastic products are imposing a huge problem on our Earth and severely damaging our ecosystems. You cannot drive down the road, walk down a beach or snorkel in the ocean without seeing plastic.
From big plastic bottles, to candy wrappers, to straws, to the tiny little bits shimmering in the ocean.. plastic is everywhere. We are very blessed to work with some amazing people and companies who are doing their part to help the planet and their local communities.
Green Garden and Yoga Bliss are one of those great companies, and we were excited to stop in for a visit during our trip to Nusa Lembongan.
We were so grateful to stumble across this establishment while doing a simple google search for “vegetarian food”, and even more grateful to learn they were just a five minute walk from where we were staying!
Tucked away from the traffic of the main road, in a little oasis of bamboo and coconut trees, you will find Green Garden. The locally owned warung has been open since 2012, serving traditional Balinese cuisine. On their updated menu, you will find more western inspired dishes and tons of vegetarian/vegan options including smoothie bowls, banana pancakes, veggie burgers, pastas and many more. The menu is easy to navigate and many of the dishes are customizable, depending on your diet.
Three years ago, they opened Yoga Bliss on the same property. They offer daily walk in classes, and also hold yoga teacher trainings and retreats. The two practice spaces are absolutely beautiful, one indoor and outdoor, with gorgeous teak wood floors. They are currently building accommodations on the property as well, that will be used for hosting guests for the retreats and trainings. It was awesome to get to see the project being built first hand during our visit.
What we love most about this business, is the work that their doing for their community and environment. They not only donate 6% from the yoga business to community and environmental projects, but they also work with a well known company called Trash Hero, coordinating beach clean ups around the island and working to educate the local community and tourists of the realities of plastic pollution.
One thing that we thought was really cool, was that in their gift shop they have a refillable station for soap, shampoo and conditioner, where you can use recycled bottles they have available (or bring your own), which I think is just a really unique offering.
We’re very grateful for businesses like this that are coming up with ideas to lessen our footprint on our beautiful Earth, one small step at a time. It all starts with us, and every little decision we make counts.
If you’re planning a trip to Nusa Lembongan, we definitely suggest stopping in for a meal or yoga class. They also offer free refillable water, so be sure to bring in your reusable bottles! During our stay, we ate here multiple times. The smoothie bowls are huge, fresh and delicious. Every visit we made, we’d have to order the Love Burger, our absolute favorite!
All of the staff here are so friendly and accommodating. We look forward to coming back and visiting our new friends at Green Garden and Yoga Bliss.
